No pleasantries!
Today I received a reminder letter from HM Revenue and Customs for some paperwork I had to submit to them.
What surprised me about this letter is that there isn’t a single nicety - Not only is it painfully to the point (can’t fault that, really) but the tone is almost threatening!
Ok, so I really should have sent in the paperwork a while back but considering this is the first reminder you’d think there’d be a little warmth to it.
I can understand it if it were 6 months late and a whole pool of workers are waiting on my information but nope, 2 weeks on and they’re ready to get the cattle-prod out.
Little wonder there’s no love lost between us mere mortals and the powers-that-be.
Let’s be honest, the UK isn’t the best when it comes to customer service but most service-oriented companies are realising that they’d better be nice to their customers, or they’ll go somewhere they’re appreciated better.
Is there another revenue body I can use instead of HMRC? Ah, well there you have it! No need to be nice is there.
